1. Register with a vet.
1. Chip them (it's the law) and tag their collar. Keep the chip data up to date!
1. Get to obedience classes. Unless you've had dogs before, *you'll* need the classes more than the dog!
1. Get insurance if you can afford it *or* start saving. We're with PetPlan, it's pricey and we've needed to call on it once - barely saw a bill, it was all sorted right there and then with the emergency vets. Daft bastard was fine.
The initial cost is insignificant. Seriously, it's nothing once you've bonded; they are family. End of.
Odds are good you'l be fine. Teach the dog manners, basic control, don't leave it to fend for itself. |
