The link from toomanyjakies is a good start then. Sheltered housing is regulated by the Care Inspectorate so you can check out how each place has been rated.

The other option is to go via social work- they can help with fall alarms (these are chargeable and they will phone you or someone else if he presses the alarm) and help assess any care needs.

Have a look at Age Scotland for advice. Glasgow's Golden Generation may also help if you speak to the welfare team - they can help with benefits checks and the like which is well worth doing.
