Something _might_ be possible on wool (dunno) but if the fibres have melted the only real option is to remove a section of carpet from elsewhere and patch that in.

If the damage is shallow, it might be possible the fix it, but rearranging furniture (or getts a rug) to hide it would be cheapest.

Also, check your insurance policy; maybe to have accidental damage that covers this?
