It was done as part of a council project to light Glasgow landmarks, and was done before LEDs were mainstream, spots were easier and cheaper to highlight features, the main colour is salmon pink to highlight the sandstone and it does change but very slowly and cycles through similar colours, if you watch the water at the gates the lighting has a very slight stroboscopic effect to make the water seem smoother.
When I designed it I was given the original construction drawings to copy, they were linen prints, I had my heart in my mouth putting then through a scanner in case they ripped. I was never as happy in my life as when I handed them back safely.

They other building I designed was the college of commerce, I did the lighting on the rooftop, to highlight the buildings on it, as well as a line of LEDs down it's facade.
