I had a pal once where, as the nightclub was closing, got into a huge argument with three guys and it came 99.9% to kicking off.
The punchline, pardon the pun, was that my pal thought the two guys standing next to him were me and my other pal and actually it was just two random guys queuing. So he was basically squaring up to three guys alone.
