Its normally automatically added to larger tables but from experience if you ask about it they are more than happy to remove it.

Im a bit wary in the sense i dont completely trust that the staff get the full amount if its added on the bill/taken as a card payment. I prefer to have it removed from the bill and physically hand cash to the person who's gave the best service.

But back to your original question -depending on where we are i normally aim for a 15% tip for good service. On the other hand i have absolutely no issue not tipping if the service qas awful.
