Fair enough av not been to farm foods in decades so I wouldn’t know.

But In Tesco and the like, alternative meats are very expensive

I am not saying that it is more expensive to vegan flat out because it’s not, but for the most part people who start to become vegan will rely on the alternative meats until they find vegan dishes that are pretty much all vegetables that they actually like. I’m speaking from experience that’s what me, my gf and our mates done as we were wanting to reduce our carbon footprint, it’s the same with how you said tofu is only £1-2 for a block but you do need to know how to make good tofu or your going to be eating rubbery cubes that taste like play-doh.

At first I found it to be very expensive but now that I know what veg I like to eat on a daily basis and have gotten better at cooking veg in general, dinners can be much cheaper than a normal red/ white meat diet.

With regards to fishing it has a lot to do with overfishing and government policies n laws, if there was much stricter laws and regulations regarding fishing it wouldn’t be anywhere near as big an issue, farming fish for example is a solution however there is ways to go until it is sustainable and ethical as shown by sea-spiracy on Netflix.
