Given that Police Scotland don't usually deal with such events and numbers, would it be wise to leave them solely in charge?
If Police Scotland were to say "no, we refuse to protect Biden the way he demands", then what? Does Biden just not make it to COP that day? Who's to say the other police forces wouldn't step in and do it anyway under higher orders? By all accounts most of the police in Finneston were English so not exactly got the hallmarks of a Police Scotland operation on it. Should Police Scotland have stopped these police from following orders?
What if some other world leaders make security demands the next few days? Should we refuse to entertain them?
I'm not saying Police Scotland have been good, but I don't think they are in any position to be deciding much about how this global climate conference is policed.
I mean surely they would have remembered that people live on these streets, and factored that into their cordon plans. The fact this was neglected says to me they have been getting orders from elsewhere. |
