| Comment | Thing is, you can guarantee this is happening all over. If it's easier to just let someone go with a shining reference than to discipline properly, I fully expect other universities would be doing the same to Glasgow.
The whole sector is rife with power dynamics.. if you're a PhD student or a technician whose job relies on the grant income of an abusive PI, are you going to speak out? Or even if you do, do you think anything will happen when there are hundreds of thousands of pounds of income attached to that name?
I don't know what the answer is but there's a lot that needs to be done. |
