Not sure how helpful this will be, I graduated in biochemistry from Glasgow last year, so I did the first two years the same as the micro degree. The biology courses are all very well run and micro is certainly one of the more rigorous choices. There are biological science jobs in Scotland but most of the people I know have gone on to do masters or phds, with only a handful ending up in industry or even completely unrelated work. If you have any specific questions about micro at Glasgow I’d be happy to try and help!
