| Comment | If you can drive to Aberdeen, then I’d suggest leaving the car there & getting the Friday night ferry to Shetland. Cabins in off-season are reasonable if you’re happy just to share with randoms & you wake up in Shetland on Saturday morning! Hire a car for a couple of days (was £90 when I did it last time in 2018, which is cheaper than taking it on the boat). Jump back on the ferry on Sunday evening & wake up in Aberdeen come Monday morning.
Alternatively, can drive Glasgow-Thurso to get the ferry to Orkney and it’s less than an hour but I think Shetland feels more like an adventure! |
