Comment | I was doing a litter pick in a local park and a councillor was there explaining that there are studies in various countries that show that fewer bins leads to less rubbish. Now I don't doubt those studies exist, but I think it's been just blindly accepted by the council that getting rid of bins will solve the rubbish problem.
Now I haven't read the studies, it was a casual chat in a park, but I am imagining that they have got it backwards, that work was done to educate people in disposing of rubbish responsibly (taking recyclables home, not bringing as much rubbish in the first place, etc.) meaning less rubbish in the bins and therefore less need for bins. But would be keen if anyone on this sub happens to have heard of any of these studies? |
