I think the idea that capitalism is some sort of zero sum is an odd one. You could easily live in a capitalist economy with state run services such as health care or railways etc etc. Only those on the hard right would argue otherwise. Many places with extreme poverty like in Africa etc, are not really capitalist economies as they don't really have free markets due to corruption and lack of rule of law. And whilst not everyone in the UK has food and physical security a huge majority do and quality of life is much better in the era we live in than any other time in human history. The free market does not hold all the answers, neither does a state run one. The best answer as always lies somewhere in the middle.
