Great idea but should go further and I have no doubt it will likely be half-assed.
In my opinion there should be no busses through it either which will allow restaurants to use the roads for outdoor seating. GCC should also put benches, trees etc. Make the full zone similar to Buchanan Street, turn the back alleys into places you want to be, not places to avoid.
