Most, if not all, small towns and villages have direct links via bus or train to the major cities. Hell, I live in greenock most of the time, and it's easy as piss to make it into Glasgow. Is it that you can't make it into the city with public transport, or that it's inconvenient.
I mean, ffs I could, reasonably, make it up to Dundee from where I live within a few hours.
