I complained and got the following reply

"Thank you for contacting us. I’m sorry to hear that you experienced a problem with our 38 service on 29 October 2021.



Please accept my apologies for the length of time taken to respond to you.



As is being experienced across the bus industry, we have seen varying levels of driver shortages in some of our operating areas over the last few weeks, like other road transport businesses.

We are doing everything we can to maintain a comprehensive network of services that supports our customers and our communities. Most routes are running normally although in some areas we are making temporary timetable adjustments to ensure a reliable service and minimise disruption. We thank customers for their patience and understanding while we overcome this short-term situation.



We are working with local authorities to ensure that real time information screens at bus stops are updated to show cancellation information. Additionally, we are working on developments within the First Bus App to also display cancellations. In the meantime, please do use the App feature which shows the live bus tracking on the map.



Once again, I’m sorry that your journey was affected on this occasion and would thank you for taking the time to get in touch. If we can help you with any other matter in the future, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
