Look for somewhere furnished then you don’t need to think about doing that and they also often come with things in the kitchen like pots, knives, cutlery too.
View the place as well before accepting and read the contract through thoroughly

For where you’ll live, consider transport links, especially to where you work

Look on Citizen’s Advice website for advice and help. Without covid I would have said go talk to them in person too. Maybe they are doing zoom or in person meetings if you want to discuss stuff with someone about anything that comes up after you’ve looked through the website. They can help you with advice on finances, ways to increase income/budget effectively, about your rights as a renter, utilising a bank account effectively.

If you can stand to stay longer, I’d have at least one extra months rent saved as well for a further back up.

Have plans for if things don’t go as planned. I’m a worrier and found that I do a lot of “what if….” thinking. What helps me is to answer the what ifs. So, what if my landlord is a tool? Know my renters rights (find out from citizens advice for reliable info). What is I suddenly don’t have my job (it’s ok, I have …….. saved which I can live off for ….. while I look for a new job). That kind of thing. It is especially important to have plans if you have a toxic family as you won’t be able to go to them for help without consequences. I’m not trying to scare you. I want you in the best position possible when you leave for it to work and to not go back and to be happy.

Can’t think of anything else at the moment. Good luck
