Comment | They aren't currently in a more vulnerable position, but they will be if they have to borrow a whole heap of cash for new windows, insulation and heating in order to sell the place. People who are buying property (particularly their first) have cash, people who are selling have their cash tied up in the house.
And it may appear progressive, and with the right grants it will be, but unless there's financial backing from Holyrood for it the greens will have a very short tenure in the Scottish government. A policy like this would absolutely tank the market as there'd be a glut of sales prior to any deadlines - the market would be absolutely flooded with energy-inefficient housing. |
