| Comment | To be honest with Tannochside and Calderbraes it’s much of a muchness, it might not strictly be in Uddingston Town but most of your amenities, pubs, schools will be in Uddingston.
Plus as far as I know the non-denominational kids still attend Uddy Grammar, but the RC kids would go to Bellshill instead of Holy Cross in Hamilton as they would if they lived in Uddingston proper.
But apart from that there would be no impact at all for most people, arguably living in NLC means cheaper house prices/council tax which are a bonus in my book.
It was more areas like Baillieston at Calderpark being classed as Uddingston that I was talking about.
The reason being that families will pay a premium for a house there then realise they’re in a school catchment for Cranhill and South Lanarkshire won’t fund any nursery places that they might expect to get.
Just think it’s a pretty shitty thing to do to people.
Ironically I’ve also saw a few houses that are in Uddingston claiming to be in Bothwell.., never stops!! |
