I know that, but you get a good sense of it from Glasgow and the surrounding areas (thinking loch Lomond etc). The comparison was to Edinburgh, which feels more like what Americans think Scotland is. As soon as you're off the train you're blasted with bagpipes, you walk down narrow little stone built streets up to an old castle, it's a fairytale version of Scotland which most Scots don't live in.
