Comment	This. It's known as a 'break of journey' in the National Rail Conditions of Carriage which covers all journeys on the UK National Rail network, which ScotRail is part of. See section C16 - [https://www.nationalrail.co.uk/static/documents/content/NRCOC.pdf](https://www.nationalrail.co.uk/static/documents/content/NRCOC.pdf) There are a few exceptions, for example if you were to join a journey on an off-peak ticket during peak hours, or if you have an advance ticket which is only valid for a specific scheduled service.
