We have an extremely comprehensive rail network and the routes are obviously very direct which lends itself nicely to cycle paths. Would allow for complete segregation from roads and avoidance of traffic light holdups for cyclists. Obviously a very expensive project but given space constraints on many existing roads and reluctance to give up space currently taken up by cars this seems like a good alternative. Thoughts?
