| Comment | Just since you mentioned Rutherglen - there's a group Healthy n Happy based in Number 18 over there who organise various community events (cheap cinema days, walking groups, art classes, local radio station) and are always looking for volunteers. Could be a good way to meet people, could be a way to get something on your CV, or they might even have jobs going.
