It’s called a relay attack. You know cars that have keyless entry? Basically if you’re very close to the car then you can unlock the doors and start the car without getting the key fob out of your pocket/bag. You just press a button on the door handle and start to ignition with a button.

The relay attack amplifies the distance you can do this from. Putting your keys inside a faraday cage wallet (or even wrapped in tin foil or placed inside your microwave etc) prevents this attack.
