I think some people here are failing to make the distinction between your average hobby weed grower and those who do it on a commercial scale.
From what I can see it’s uncommon for anyone with a small grow for personal use/mates to be sent to prison, especially first time.
The commercial operations though are a different ball game, linked to organised crime and all the violence that entails.
The Chinese/Vietnamese gangs who are massive in the weed trade are also notorious for slavery/people trafficking.
If it’s an organisation like that then yes I think they do deserve jail time.
Although the problem is it’s often the trafficked teenagers who can’t speak a word of English and who are found in a dodgy warehouse somewhere who get the sentence.
In which case it’s not deserved.
It’s a bit of a minefield really, enough to make you need a bit of weed to get your head around it… |
