Potentially for self-funded PhD students, but self-funded folk are generally people with more money than sense tbh. For sciences the vast majority of us get somewhere between £15k and 20k as a tax-free stipend each year. Tuition fees are waived and we're exempt from council tax.
Check if any PhD student applicants are self-funded. If they have a stipend award letter they're likely a safe bet as a tenant. If they're paying to do a PhD they're unreliable for a number of reasons. |
