I’ve got a large breed puppy who still believes that everyone should pay him attention and jumps on them to let them know that.

So obviously unless it’s an enclosed field he’s always on the lead.

A few weeks ago I was out walking him at about 5:15am, took him to a field in between Bargeddie and Easterhouse.

I’ve saw about 3 people in this field in the 5 years since I’ve been walking there (Got more than 1 dog) so thought given the time I’d let him off to practice recall.

As soon as I let him of I saw a figure appear from the long grass as the dog sprinted towards it.

It was an older man who was 85 if he was a day out for a morning walk complete with walking stick.

I shat myself and started frantically blowing the whistle and chasing him (the dog, not the old dude), but I just got dingied..

Fortunately the old guy was sharp enough to use his walking stick to fend the slabbery monster off until I caught up with him.

It just goes to show you though that you can’t be complacent about stuff like this, I had visions of my numbskull of a hound breaking a lovely old man’s hip..
