I completely understand why most folk’s preference would be to work from home, but is it still a bit of a novelty?

I wonder if in 3-5 years there could be a lot of people wanting to get back to an office. If you’re not lucky enough to have a spare room you can completely turn over to a workspace, it can be quite intrusive on your home life. I used to work from home and hated having anything that reminded me of my job in the house.

Employers will legally have to ensure you have a suitable workspace, which will involve all the monotonous desk assessments and making sure your chair is the right height.

We’re still adapting to the situation, but in wonder if there will be a long term shift back the way as folk miss the sociability and face to face interaction.

And I write this as someone who fucking loathed my office job and everything and everyone connected to it.
