Personally think one of the big reasons why Glasgow is seeing a lower return of office workers is partially to do with how shit public transport is in the city.
Its such a fucking hassle to commute to work for so many places.
For example if I lived in Renfrew and worked in the city centre I would obviously prefer to work from home rather than drive 30 mins/get the bus. Perhaps if there was a direct subway/rail link that would be easier.
Same if you lived in the south side and worked in the west end for example. It's just such a hassle. If you have to get 2 busses or a car then walk or a train then walk etc it just means that people I think are less likely to come into the office than if public transport was more direct. |
