Comment | At a guess I'd say electrical faults in the kitchen are the most common, so that's mandatory. Heat head instead of smoke to prevent folk taking the battery out. Hallways tend to be a common point for all rooms, so one in there makes sense rather than individual bedrooms which will be occupied when people are asleep so therefore people will be woken up by fires quickly.
Living room is probably the most likely to have electrical appliances left on and be unoccupied, so at night when you're asleep in the bedroom you'd want to know sooner, before the smoke hits the head in the hall. The head in the hall also, importantly, acts as a repeater for the other two to wake you up (again, common point to the bedrooms) if there's a fire in the kitchen or living room.
