Langside is a historical village which was centred where Langside place and the monument are. The name is medieval and means long hill. The Battle of Langside took place in 1568, and when they built the tenements on the floodplain of the Cart in the early 20th century they named the new district Battlefield as it was in an area close to the fighting. Battlefield is a district of Langside if anything.
In reality the name Langside now adheres to the whole bit which is on the hill south of QP, algie st, mansionhouse Rd millbrae Road, and Battlefield is everything from the bottom of the hill from Sinclair drive south basically until cathcart
