The Cathcart circle does still run, just not as often as before. There are 2 or 3 trains per hour going through Shawlands for peak work travel time and then it's 1 an hour for the rest of the day. It's ridiculous but there's no sign of them changing it back - the trains are still much quieter than they used to be.
