I'm not your target member (rapidly approaching 70) but I understand your thinking.
Might not be a bad idea to speak to a couple of the established clubs to see if you can run 'in association' with them. I'd certainly have a beer or two with them. Maybe the Lomond? - they used to be fairly informal and pretty sociable.
Could give you access to huts etc as well as contact with more experienced climbers if anyone wants to follow that path.
