Ah sorry I misunderstood. Ticketer is the company who makes the technology so I thought the poster was referring to the unit in the driver cab.
Its in preparation for “tap and cap” which is similar to the way it works in London where you will just tap on with contactless and because we don’t have flat fares up here you tap off too.
The system will automatically charge you the correct fare for each journey. But if you travel 10 times in one day the maximum charge will be the price of a day ticket. And if you use the bus every day it will keep charging you for day tickets until it reaches the price of a weekly ticket.
It means if you use contactless you don’t need to ask for a fare and wait for the drivers input before your card is charged. Should be quicker. |
