If there’s a specific gig you might get some local faces, but otherwise town at new year is full of folk who don’t normally go out and so it is carnage.
Have a look at gig listings see if anything is on that takes your fancy. The skinny usually covers most events.
Also New Year’s Day (Jan 1st) is generally a big family event with a steak pie dinner. Would advise on trying to get a booking somewhere as most places booked way in advance. Most of the shops and museums/ galleries etc stay closed on Jan 1st.
Generally larger supermarkets or retail chain stores like Next and some corner shops will still be open. |
