I would either do what some people here have suggested and alter/sabotage it so might latch can’t work, or just get onto the factor to get it changed. You could always just damage it beyond repair so it has to be replaced, although that might be considered criminal damage (don’t get caught). It was an idiot who picked that lock for a close to start with
