Are you 100% sure it’s countrywide you’re dealing with and you haven’t been scammed?
Countrywide are a huge estate agency in Scotland so it seems unlikely/odd that they’d be flouting the legislation.
The fact you haven’t been able to meet/view the flat before parting with an illegal holding fee is really ringing some alarm bells.
Can you contact the office that you’re dealing with directly and double check that the person you’ve been dealing with is definitely employed by them?
