Yes I don’t argue that, but the act of looking before stepping on the main carriageway is long established and respected - we were taught it in school. So such incidents of pedestrians blindly walking on to the road, while still too common, are no where near as common right now compared to cycle lanes where people are doing it all the time, or just standing there - standing in the middle of the bike “road”. Awareness needs to be drawn to the fact that cycle lanes are roads, so that people walking look beforehand, for their safety and that of the person on a bike.
