If a pedestrian steps into the "braking zone" (the distance that, when allowing for reaction time and braking, it will be impossible to stop) then there is absolutely **nothing** the driver can do.

Yes, the driver could slow down but there is still a "braking zone" for the unobservant to walk or turn into. Drivers need to anticipate, everyone, needs to look **and** see.
