I think you are correct to a point. I think the enclaves of shittiness are smaller now and interspersed with "wealthier" enclaves driven by property prices. To a viewer it is just not grim when you look in every direction like it used to be. However if you are a poor lad or lassie from a poor enclave your chances really have not improved that much compared to the 1980s or 1990s in fact they peaked between 2021 to 2014 and have slowly declined backwards since then. https://www.nrscotland.gov.uk/statistics-and-data

My family are from Govan, then we went upmarket to Springburn and then positively bourgeois to Cumbernauld. All areas were quite rough in their own ways, but in Cumbernauld there was a sense of leaving Glasgow behind. There were no middens or entrenched territories. Of course wee fannies tried to make their own. Big should out ^^/s to "Abronhill Urban Gorillas" (actual spelling)

Ironically the most violent personal experiences I have are from Cumbernauld but those were not gang related but in the end quite horrific all the same looking back.
