Leeds is probably a better "student city"; its far more diverse and international, there are no government restrictions on nightlife like in Glasgow, and basically a whole quarter of the city is "student ghetto". Its much cheaper as well.
Glasgow is a much better looking place however, for example the student's favourite area the "west end" is a heritage area of mansions and tenements compared to Leeds where it can be quite dirty and dangerous. Glasgows also more "cultural" than Leeds, i.e more concerts, festivals etc. It also gets far better investment in its transport so you'll have a lot more options for living areas within 10 minutes journey of uni.
What they both have in common is a reputation for friendly people, and being 30 minutes from some of the UK's best scenery. As well as junkies passed out on the main streets and violent racist football fans. |
