If you’re new to Glasgow it’s worth also being aware that the 1st of January (Ne’erday) is an absolute ghost town also. It’s the day lots of us see our extended families and ingest steak pie. No busses/ trains etc.
The 2nd is a public holiday also but maybe more like a Sunday service on trains etc.
