Not the ‘80s but my grandad was born in Bridgeton in the mid ‘40s and has some absolutely mental stories of how it was back then. Made even more acute by how heavily sectarian the area was since it was (and still is) the ‘home’ of the Lodge. He eventually got sent to a Borstal for battering someone and said that his time there was more traumatising than the gang violence was.
