Yeah second this. Even "is she any good?" and be a bit less formal with the language? I can't imagine a conversation with someone in a shop using the word appealing (and I tend to come across as a bit of a posh bitch).

Or she's from round here rather than from Glasgow. Or name the bit of Glasgow she's from, "she's from Castlemilk" (or wherever) is the kind of thing I'd reference rather than the city as a whole.
