They're raising business rates in the centre to discourage retail, so they can convert more full blocks into residential. like at the top of Buchanan Street. Charging businesses full council tax *while shut on their orders due to Covid* was the final nail in the coffin, but spending millions of pounds on proposals for things that will never ever happen (elevated walkway along the river, a roof over the motorway at Charing Cross) rather than doing anything makes it seem like they've just written off Glasgow city centre. |
