Comment | Yes, this is a huge part of it, and it's why the city centre can't be populated by small independents. There used to be a place called the Virginia Galleries up the side street beside M&S on Argyle Street, and it was an arcade full of all sorts of wonderful little shops. The building subsided when M&S drilled into the foundations, and that was that. But places like that would still get footfall. I could see a whole floor of the Debenhams building being used like that. |
