| Comment | Batteries are heavy, so carrying them around uses up energy, so you need a bigger battery to carry enough charge to move the weight of the battery... you see where this is going.
Their efficiency also degrades over time, so they need to be replaced more often, and fluctuates with the temperature. Up front costs are probably comparible / even favour the electric buses in a smaller fleet, but if you invest in the overhead cables, you save money on every bus you add to the network. |
