The last and only time I saw a scramble was in the late 80s when the young woman across the road from me got married. I was about 4 or 5 at the time and didn't know what this 'scramble' thing was that my pals were excited about. I only ended up with a few coppers.
The family had booked a photographer who arrived in a Lada. An older boy told me to go up to him and say "Nice Lada". I had no idea what that meant. I went up to the guy and said "Nice ladder". He seemed to know what it meant.
