A broader question I have is what needs to happen for 'recycling' to work?

I think we need UK gov to put standards in to law and for Holyrood to match it: there shouldn't be different recycling and waste standards in neighbouring council areas. I also think that there should be very easy to access and use recycling bins in just about every car park going and supermarkets and retail parks should finance most of them. The likes of Amazon and IKEA should really be sponsering cardboard recycling too.

Locally, should there be better information about what can go in blue bins? Just paper and card, **some** plastic, drinks cans and food tins... At my close folks put glass bottles, clothes, boots, and bags for life in the blue bins. I used to re organise the bins myself but I gave up.

Also: crushing cans and flattening boxes would make a big difference to overspills.
