I actually walk from my front door as it's not far but a good starting point would be at Auchnacraig Car park. Leaving the car park on foot turn right and walk about 150 metres and you'll see a sign pointing up hill for the route to the loch. Once on that there's no going wrong. At the top you then have quite a lot of options for alternative routes further into the kilpatricks (over towards Duncolm is a goody) or back down towards the village.
